MaW session 20th November 2021

 Sunny Bank Mill

After the three-day torrents
the beck raced and roared,
clusters of stones riding its crest
a mist of rainbowed spray rinsing air;

the small wind silenced by water
stole among copper leaves
lifting the last stragglers
into a moment’s breath
before the drop to nascent loam.

Among denuded limbs of lime
the tall holly flickered
full-berried, vivid feast
for wintering blackbird.

Over the bridge the house stood tall, safe
beyond the reach of rising waters
cosseted as Autumn gathered round,
its unlocked door saying
Welcome

Adrienne led a Noticing the undercurrent practice today, introducing it with the poem “Wild Geese” by Mary Oliverwi
